Greater Princeton AYLUS “Earth Team Volunteers” Worked at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (4th) on July 26, 2019

Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) “Earth Team”Volunteers, Joyce Li and Cassie Wang, worked at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on July 26, 2019, from 8 am to 5 pm (9 hours).

GPA Earth Team Volunteers finished the project updating Landowner and Tax record data. The Earth Team Volunteers also worked on a “Wildlife Management Area” sign, with the purpose of informing the general public on what these areas of forestland will be used for – creating young forest habitats for wildlife. Specifically, such as the Golden Winged Warbler, Bobwhite Quail, and Bog Turtle, whose population has been decreasing. Many of the trees in this area will be cut down so that dense shrubs, bushes and young trees can grow and allow wildlife to become abundant.

The work of GPA Earth Team Volunteers will allow NRCS to stretch available resources and plus additional conservation practices on the ground. Their work is considered important, because it improves NRCS customer service and the environment for all.
