Greater Princeton AYLUS Led Toastmaster Training Events in West Windsor-Plainsboro on May 25, 2019

Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) highly promotes School Leadership among its members. GPA member Steven Chi has been actively volunteering and leading a student-facilitated Toastmasters club in West Windsor Plainsboro School District.

Toastmasters is a club in which members can practice their speaking skills. The toastmaster group works on giving introductory speeches, argumentative speeches, and impromptu speaking. The group also gives evaluations and advice and encourages everyone to speak longer.

On May 25th, 2019, the speakers continued their role model speeches. Steven acted as an assistant teacher and gave advice on the evaluations. He talked when he saw something that they could improve on. Jim explained to them the importance of body language and showed a competition speech as an example of this. These presentations and videos have helped them see how other people give speeches and are great examples for them to follow. They will continue this topic next week as well.

Time: 2:15 pm to 3:15 pm (1 hour).
