Greater Princeton AYLUS Led Toastmaster Training Event in West Windsor-Plainsboro on May 11, 2019

Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) highly promotes School Leadership among its members. GPA member Steven Chi has been actively volunteering and leading a student-facilitated Toastmasters club in West Windsor Plainsboro School District.

Toastmasters is a club in which members can practice their speaking skills. The toastmaster group works on giving introductory speeches, argumentative speeches, and impromptu speaking. The group also gives evaluations and advice and encourages everyone to speak longer.

On May 11th, 2019, Steven Chi spent an hour to work with the junior ToastMaster group. The speakers continued on the topic on their favorite hobby from last week. They have all shown improvement as they are all speaking for a longer period of time. The teacher, Jim also explained how to structure a speech. This will help the student get a better understanding on how to write bullet points and not read a speech out loud. Next week, they will wrap up this topic and move onto a role model speech. Time: 2:15 pm to 3:15 pm (1 hour).
