Greater Princeton AYLUS Hosted a Fabulous “Music from Heart-Chinese New Year Celebration” Performance at Wishing Well Adult Health Care Center on February 18, 2019

Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

AYLUS Greater Princeton, NJ Branch (GPA) has many members that are talented in playing instruments, singing, and dancing, and more. Using such talents, Greater Princeton Branch has a year-round “Music from Heart” project. Talented members are giving music performances at any locations that “music from heart” will bring the community a lot of joy.

The Presidents’ Day is February 18th, which is also one day before the Lantern Festival, a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. Usually falling in February or early March, it marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations!

On February 18th, from 9:30 to 12:30 pm, 22 GPA members spent 3 hours to host a marvelous “Music from Heart-Chinese New Year Celebration” Performance at the Wishing Well Adult Health Care Center in Lawrenceville, NJ (www.wishingwellcare.us Phone: (877) 553-5806, 3450 Princeton Pike, Suite 120, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648). More than a hundred seniors, mostly Chinese, Korean, and Russian, happily watched the performance.

The program was actually put together elaborately to make it quite attractive, starting with a Chinese Folk Dancing “Beauty”, then a variety of instruments: Chinese Instrument Guzheng, Cello, Piano, Violin; Vocal Solos; little Magic Tricks; Stand-up Comedy; Poetry Recitation, and the best of all, Chinese Martial Arts – Tiger Fist! Everyone was extremely appreciative of the performance and enjoyed it very much. To end the program, GPA members brought lots of joy to the seniors with a unique “Fashion Show” along with all the best wishes for the year!

At the end of performance, GPA President Cassie Tammy Wang was kindly invited to the stage and gave a closing speech along with the Managing Director/Administrator Mr. Michael Kravchenko, Mrs. Yelena Kravchenko, and the Recreation Manager Mr. Ricky Liang of Wishing Well. All folks were so impressed by the professional performance and strongly encouraged GPA talented members to return and perform again in the near future. In deed, many GPA members have already expressed their eagerness to be the hosts, to perform, and/or to volunteer for the future performance.
