AYLUS Greater Princeton (GPA) and Edison Branches both have members that are talented in playing instruments, singing, dancing, fashion show, and magic tricks, etc, at the same time, many of our members are fond of traditional culture. Using their talents, our members always look for opportunities to give musical performances at locations that may bring their community a lot of joy.
On February 3rd, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, 41 GPA members led by the GPA President Cassie Tammy Wang, and 3 Edison members led by the Edison Branch President Victoria He, teamed up and to host a marvelous “Music from Heart: Happy Lunar New Year” Performance for the seniors at Merwick Care & Rehabilitation Center in Plainsboro, New Jersey. GPA President Cassie Tammy Wang, gladly hosted the event along with the Merwick Director Anisa Knox and Coordinator Christine Hui, who announced the beginning of performance to more than fifty senior audience.
The performance was actually put together elaborately to make the program quite attractive with singing both English and Chinese folk songs; dancing; traditional fashion show; a variety of instruments, including the violin, cello, euphonium, and flute; magic tricks; a funny witty skit, and the best of all, Chinese Martial Arts! All seniors at the Merwick were extremely appreciative of the performance and enjoyed it very much. To end the program, everyone including the senior audience happily sang along “The Beautiful Jasmine” song.
Being encouraged, when the program concluded, our performers and volunteers did not leave right away; they had some warm moment with the senior audience, learning how the seniors appreciated this performance at such a wonderful time. At the same time, GPA management team leaders were eager to collect any feedbacks from Merwick management on how to build the program and have their performance improved for the future events.
