Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) Branch in NJ has many members talented in bilingual skills, reading, writing, and art, who are all in favor of Chinese and American cultures. Using our talents, Greater Princeton Branch Junior Reporters has promoted traditional culture since May 1st, 2018.

GPA members Elizabeth Yunjue Li, Angelina Yingying Liu, Raymond Lin, Chelsea Lin, Catherine Feng, Han Li, Ming Li, and Edward Cao are committed to contribute an article in Chinese and/or art illustration to a newspaper “Junior Reporter Times” every three months or sooner.

For example, on page A1 of its December 5th, 2018 issue, Ming Li authored an article (3 hours), exploring the long history of ChinaTown in Manhattan, New York, and a few interesting stories of its oldest buildings.  On page A9, Edward Cao authored an article (3 hours), telling us his unique summer intern experience of teaching a class of Left-Behind students in a village of Yunnan Province, China. Inspired by his experience in China, Edward Cao is also virtually giving a class of elementary school students lessons on English and American culture.

On page A5, Cassie Tammy Wang authored an article (3 hours), emphasizing the necessity of continuously learning Chinese language even though many of Chinese Americans were born in the United States and speaks English most time. In addition, Cassie Tammy Wang, being the newspaper’s Art Editor-In-Chief, took full responsibility of reviewing the newspaper’s complete layouts (6 hours) prior to their publication.

Date and hours that Cassie Tammy Wang contributed articles and spent on the newspaper layout works: 5/1/2018 (4 hrs); 6/1/2018 (7 hrs); 7/1/2018 (4 hrs); 8/1/2018 (4 hrs); 9/1/2018 (4 hrs); 10/1/2018 (7 hrs); 11/7/2018 (6 hrs); 12/5/2018 (9 hrs).
