East Cobb Branch Participated in Cobb County Public Library Fall Book Sale

On October 13th, five members of the East Cobb AYLUS branch participated in the Cobb County Public Library Fall Book Sale at Cobb Civic Center. This was our first time collaborating and contributing to a well-known county-level public event. We all greatly appreciate Mrs. Zhang, one of the event organizers, for offering the extraordinary volunteer opportunity to the group.

AYLUS Members helped organize and sell used books to the community. The members were tasked with totaling the cost of a customer’s haul, the sizes of which varied immensely – some people carried a few books in their hands while others brought up suitcases filled with them. Everybody was counting cautiously to make sure the books were sold at the correct price. Members also helped organize the tables and reorganized the books to keep them in order for other customers. Many parents and children came to the event, and an astounding amount of books were sold. The volunteers worked hard from 1PM to 5PM, which is when the event closed for the day. Over $35000 worth of books were sold at low prices to help give back to the community. The members were proud to be part of the team that made the sale a success.

The volunteers themselves were excited that there were so many interesting books on sale, so they bought some books from the sale as well.

Attendance: Kevin Shen (4 Hours), Nick Vincent (4 Hours), Michael Fu (2.5 Hours), Susanna Huang (2.5 Hours), Howard Hua (3 Hours)
