20181012 East Cobb Helped at Elementary School’s Fall Festival

On October 12, 2018, East Cobb members volunteered at Timber Ridge Elementary School Fall Festival. The weather was windy and cool, and the event was very fun. We signed as helper on face painting and Tug of War judge.

Susanna Huang and Selina Huang painted various kids’ faces. They painted flowers, pumpkins, butterflies, apples, lightning bolts, and even cat faces. Susanna Huang and Selina Huang enjoyed face painting other people. We would first show them some face paint pictures. They would pick a picture, and we painted that picture on their face. When we finished our masterpiece, we gave them a mirror to look at themselves. They would often squeal in delight and run off.

Howard Hua, Susanna Huang, and Selina Huang also encouraged people to play games of Tug of War. In Tug of War, there would be a few people on each side of a line. A rope would be on the floor, its middle point on the line that divided the teams. One parent would be the referee. The parent would be standing on the rope. They would shout, “3…2…1…Go!” Then, both sides would then start tugging on the rope. When one team was pulled over the line, they would be the losers. The opposing team would be the winner. When the parent who was in charge of the game left, Howard Hua took over as the judge. He was an excellent Tug of War judge. Howard Hua could judge which team won very accurately, and he went easy on the children and played fair and square. Susanna Huang and Selina Huang also helped Howard. When the losing team was struggling, we encouraged saying, “Come on! You can do it!” We also helped Howard Hua judge who had won.
