Upper Manhattan Branch hosts a cleanup event at Alley Pond Environmental Center on April 22

On April 22nd, Richard Xu and Mark Li dedicated their time and effort to a noble cause at the Alley Pond Environmental Center. Their mission was clear: to preserve the integrity of this natural sanctuary by clearing trash from the trail. Over the course of two hours, their commitment to environmental stewardship shone brightly as they worked diligently to enhance the beauty and sustainability of Alley Pond.

The Alley Pond Environmental Center, nestled amidst lush greenery and teeming with biodiversity, serves as a vital educational and recreational hub for the community. However, like many natural areas, it faces the challenge of litter and environmental degradation. Richard and Mark recognized the importance of protecting this precious ecosystem and took proactive steps to make a positive impact.

Their volunteering efforts began with clearing trash from the trail, a task that required keen attention to detail and a deep respect for nature. Armed with gloves and trash bags, Richard and Mark meticulously combed through the trail, collecting discarded wrappers, bottles, and other debris. Their efforts not only beautified the trail but also created a safer and more enjoyable experience for visitors and wildlife alike.

As they worked side by side, Richard and Mark’s dedication to environmental conservation was evident. Their actions spoke volumes about their commitment to making a difference in their community and leaving a lasting positive impact on the natural world. By taking responsibility for the cleanliness of the trail, they demonstrated the power of individual action in creating meaningful change.
