The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers at Valley Stream State Park

The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers at Valley Stream State Park to help cut down bamboo. Volunteers used various tools to swiftly remove bamboo, forming an assembly line of sorts to quickly transport the bamboo over the river. The bamboo is a real problem for the area, not only has it been a real burden for park staff, it has been working its way off the property and destroying neighboring back yards. Although volunteers weren’t able to clear all of it in the three hours they were there, they did remove a significant portion of the bamboo. Volunteers worked from 9:30 to 12:30 to take down a large amount of bamboo.

Volunteers: Bryan Fan (3.5 hrs), Jonathan Fan (3 hrs), Jake Wu (3 hrs) and Min Zheng (3 hrs).
