Pearland Branch Supports the Promotion of All of Us Project on August 4th, 2023

On Friday, August 4th, a group of dedicated and enthusiastic AYLUS volunteers headed out to conduct the first group promotion for the All of Us project. During the week before, the volunteers eagerly prepared for the event by researching about the program on their website and making a PowerPoint presentation.

Upon arrival, the volunteers were warmly greeted by over 20 Asian adults who were eager to learn about the All of Us program. The volunteers were able to provide an engaging and informative promotion session. During the promotion, the volunteers shared important information about precision medicine, including its benefits and how it can improve healthcare outcomes. The volunteers were able to inform and educate more than 20 people at one time, which was much more efficient than conducting one-on-one promotion sessions. At the end of the promotion, a survey was handed out to the adults to get their basic information.

One of the challenges the volunteers faced during the promotion was that many of the older adults did not have or did not know how to use an electronic device. This made it difficult for some of them to complete the survey that were a part of the promotion. However, this could be easily solved if paper surveys were provided instead of it all being on electronics. A presentation clicker would also be helpful as it would make the transitions in between slides much easier.

In conclusion, the first group promotion for the All of Us project was a huge success. The AYLUS volunteers demonstrated their commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and their dedication to serving the community. It was a great day for everyone involved.
