Pearland Branch Volunteers Help with a Concert in the Park Series on May 12, 2023

On May 12th, AYLUS Pearland volunteers helped the City of Pearland Parks and Recreation team to successfully run the Pearland Concert in the Park event held at Southdown Park. The volunteers not only interacted with the City of Pearland Parks and Recreation team but also with the Recreation Center and Natatorium team to ensure an energetic and pleasant atmosphere for the Pearland community.

The volunteers arrived an hour early to help various organizations set up their respective booths and learn what their roles would be for this event. Volunteers were divided into two groups. One assisted the Recreation Center and Natatorium team to promote their organization and bring an energetic atmosphere to the event by offering free face painting to all the attendees of the event. They skillfully transformed children’s faces into that of a pirate or a mermaid, adding an element of joy and entertainment. This activity not only delighted the young attendees but also contributed to creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere at Southdown Park.

The second group actively contributed to the success of the event by distributing surveys on behalf of the City of Pearland. They approached event attendees and encouraged participation by having them scan a QR code to complete a survey. This initiative aimed to collect valuable feedback and insights from the community, enabling the City of Pearland to enhance future events and better understand the needs of the residents. Upon completion of the survey, residents were given the opportunity to enter a raffle with many amazing prizes.

After the event, some volunteers helped the City Park and Recreation Department prepare a list of senior high school volunteers from the past two years for recognition in future city events.

The active involvement of AYLUS volunteers proved to be instrumental in the overall success of the Pearland Concert in the Park event. Their contributions in distributing surveys, assisting the raffle, and offering face painting services significantly enhanced the attendee experience and fostered community engagement. The City of Pearland Parks and Recreation team acknowledges the invaluable support provided by AYLUS volunteers and expresses gratitude for their dedication and commitment to making the event a resounding success.

The Concert in the Park Series is held every Friday evening throughout the next few months, anyone is gladly welcome to help!
