Pearland Branch Participated in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Ed Thompson All Inclusive Playground on April 22, 2023

On April 22, 2023, AYLUS Pearland participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Ed Thompson All Inclusive Playground as a partner. The event took place from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and was organized to celebrate the opening of Brazoria County’s first all-inclusive playground, designed to make play and learning fully accessible to all kids.

AYLUS Pearland had been actively involved in supporting this project since 2021, and their efforts included raising funds through plant sales and online product reviews, resulting in a donation of over $7500. As a result, the Pearland branch became a partner in the project, and two youth officers were invited to be VIPs at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Volunteers from AYLUS Pearland demonstrated their commitment to serving the special needs community by arriving on time to set up the AYLUS booth and sign. They offered various activities for kids, including face painting, origami, and tattoos. In addition, they displayed a variety of plants such as spaghetti squash, cosmos, milkweed, zinnia, okra, perilla, Malabar spinach, Luffa gourd, and tomatoes, along with marigolds, which were free to take home.

AYLUS Pearland volunteers also promoted the organization’s commitment to the special needs community by preparing a poster and playing a video of an on-stage performance by AYLUS volunteers and SMILE students at the Lunar New Year Gala. They also informed families with special needs about AYLUS’ upcoming summer special needs day camp and playdate, encouraging them to sign up.

The event was a success in terms of AYLUS promoting their services and building connections with other non-profit organizations and local special needs families. AYLUS Pearland demonstrated their dedication to making a positive impact on the special needs community and furthering their mission of inclusivity and accessibility.
