Chapel Hill Branch Helps Piedmont Animal Farm Refuge Recover From the Damage Caused by Hurricane Ian on Oct 1, 2022

On Saturday morning, members of the AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch volunteered together to support the Piedmont Animal Farm Refuge and help them recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Ian. Due to the hurricane, circumstances for the farm have proven to be difficult. With the rain drizzling, shortage of power, and the ground muddy from the previous heavy rain, there was a shortage of volunteers. When the farm called out for help, we immediately signed up and accepted the challenge, even though the surroundings may have been deemed as unpleasant. However, after seeing the results of our strenuous labor, we were proud of our accomplishments. Within hours of hard work, we were able to remove the all wet and dirty straw and replace it with fresh new bedding for the entire sheep house after sprinkling an anti-bacterial powder to ensure the health of its residents. Our member, Kevin, also helped to rearrange the storage shelter which was messed by the strong wind. We are truly honored to be able to lend a helping hand to the farm during such difficult and busy times and hope to be of help next time as well.

Volunteers who participated in this event are: Kevin Chen (3 hours) and Luna Chen (3 hours)
