AYLUS Pearland Teaches at Light and Salt Association’s SMILE Classes, July 12 and 13

On Tuesday, July 12th, members of the Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States of Pearland volunteered at the SMILE program at the Light and Salt Association. William
and Alexander Sun started the class with table tennis, which encouraged teamwork and
collaboration, as well as physical skills such as hand-eye coordination. During this session, Marc Lu and Richard Chen then taught music in the morning, going over music theory. The students were then able to practice what they had learned on their own instruments. For Art class, Haoqi Zhang taught a new watercolor technique using a straw to blow the paint and Jiaqi Ren taught how to paint flowers using acrylic paint.

On Wednesday, July 13th, members of the AYLUS volunteered at the SMILE program at the Light and Salt Association. In the morning, Wendy Yin and Ray Huang taught the
crafts class how to make snakes and flowers using construction paper. Afterwards, the students and their buddies made collages from images found in old magazines.
