May 29, 2021 Vaccine Outreach Text Banking

On May 29th, 2021, seven AYLUS members teamed up with CPACS to work with our state agency Advocacy partners to reach out to our communities and help connect them to resources for the CoVID-19 vaccine through text banking. It is important for people to get vaccines to protect each other and return to a normal life.

When the meeting started, a staff member for CPACS introduced the importance of vaccines and for people to get it. The staff member also explained how to use the site for text banking, Spoke, and how to respond to messages. The Aylus members learned quickly and began sending text messages. The volunteers also began responding to texts using prewritten messages as well as a document with questions and answers that served as a guide. The members were able to send out thousands of messages in one day.

When the staff member announced that the time was up, the members shared their experiences with texting and how they felt about it. The members enjoyed the experience of being able to help not only CPACS but also the people in the state of Georgia.

Attendance: Jay Pan (1 hour), David Liu (1 hour), Faith Huang (1 hour), Albert Zhang (1 hour), Isabel Liu (1 hour), Erin Ding (1 hour), Sean Yan (1 hour)
