AYLUS Pearland Offered Weekly Tutoring To Community Kids

AYLUS began offering weekly tutoring sessions for 1st-8th graders on December 8th, 2018. Nearly every Friday since then, tutors (comprising of high school AYLUS members) and students have gathered at the Sunrise Lakes clubhouse from 6 PM to 8PM to partake in this event.

Students complete skill-building worksheets in math and reading, as well as their own homework assignments brought from home or school. In addition, some students receive one-on-one assistance from the tutors.

The AYLUS tutoring service has significantly grown in popularity since its establishment, with approximately 30 students per session. Each session is divided up into 4 mini-sessions of 30 minute increments. Signups are done through Signup Genius online, with about 8 slots per mini-session. Every week, slots are filled rapidly, often within the night they open. Students improved in the subjects they were tutored in and claim studying with AYLUS tutors were both fun and inspiring. Parents highly praised this program. Mr. Ding, the father of a second grader who attends the AYLUS tutoring program, said:” My daughter loves the big sister who taught her on reading. She said what the big sister taught is awesome and super easy to get!”  Mrs. Liu, the mother of a fifth grade boy, told us that her son reminded her many times to sign him up.  “He just doesn’t want to miss it,” Mrs. Liu said. In the mere three months we have offered this service, tutors have assisted over 100 young students! We thank all tutors who have sacrificed their time to volunteer, as well as every student for making this program enjoyable!
