San Diego Branch and San Marcos Branch Cleaned up the Torrey Pines State Beach Together on September 17, 2016

On September 17, a beautiful day in San Diego, 34 volunteers from the San Diego Branch and the San Marcos Branch of AYLUS worked together and collected bottles, cans, left over bananas, a knife, and plastics of all kinds that litter the Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego, California.

This was the first time the two AYLUS branches met and they worked together seamlessly.

The joint cleanup was also part of the 32nd annual Coastal Cleanup Day cleanup and was coordinated by the longtime coastal advocacy group I Love A Clean San Diego. Last year, the San Diego Branch of AYLUS also participated in the beach cleanup on September 13, 2015.

Similar scenes occurred in more than 50 nations around the world on International Coastal Cleanup Day. It has become the largest single-day volunteer event in California.
