East Cobb Branch Cut Films for Face Shield at Marietta Maker Station VIII

On Nov 15th, 2020, the East Cobb Branch went to laser cut plastic for use in faceshields from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Today we once again cut more films. Today the laser cutter was being worked on so we couldn’t work on the laser cutter for long. In the time the cutter was being improved, we cut sheets to feed into the laser cutter. Since we had such a large stockpile of sheets before we started cutting and had little time, we decided to fully optimize for cutting and use all manpower there. Normally one person would operate the laser cutter, and another would cut new sheets, allowing us to continuously operate. Today however, both people worked next to the laser cutter. With this arrangement, one person could put in and take out material from the laser cutter while the other dealt with the waste, fixed small areas the laser cutter failed at, and brought sheets to the other person. In the end, we managed to cut 100 sheets in just under 1 hour.
