The AYLUS Birmingham Branch partnered with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, an organization dedicated to providing contracted animal control services for Jefferson County, handling stray pickups, injured animal rescues, and aggressive animal responses. They investigate reports of animal neglect/abuse and work with owners to improve living conditions. GBHS also takes in surrendered pets, provides medical assessments/vaccinations, and houses them for adoption.
On October 31st, 2026, AYLUS Birmingham Branch members helped shred newspapers, fold towels and blankets, clean animal enclosures, and decorate animal carriers for new pet owners.
