AYLUS Great Neck Branch holds AAPI Event at the Main Library 45th (2/21/26)

On February 21st, 2026, AYLUS held an AAPI event at the Great Neck Main Library. The event started off with a read-aloud by different volunteers reading the books. Christina read Chloe’s Lunar New Year in honor of the celebration of lunar new year, Jolynn reading The Gift of Ramadan,  and  John read The Oldest Student: How Mary Walker Learned How to Read.

After the read-aloud, Jolynn and Jiangyuan taught the kids how to create clay horse sculptures in honor of the year of the horse for Chinese New Year. Ranie, Chloe, and Catherine taught the children to crochet while Andrew and Felicia taught the kids to do Origami. The event is enjoyable and educational for everyone as kids develop motor skills and practice their creativity while learning.
