The Aylus Morris Branch proudly partnered with GRACE (Giving and Receiving Assistance for our Community’s Essentials), Summit’s outreach agency dedicated to supporting local families facing hardship. Through coordinated community outreach and member engagement, the branch organized a collection drive focused on essential household needs. As a result of these efforts, we gathered over 35 pounds of non-perishable food items, along with diapers and female hygiene products—items that are consistently in high demand but often under-donated.
The drive emphasized practical support for families experiencing food insecurity and financial challenges. Donations included canned vegetables, pasta, rice, and other shelf-stable goods to help supplement pantry supplies. In addition, diapers and feminine hygiene products were collected to address essential personal care needs that are not covered by many assistance programs. Community members responded generously, reflecting a shared commitment to caring for neighbors in need.
On the morning of February 26, representatives from the Aylus Morris Branch personally delivered the collected items to GRACE for sorting and distribution. The organization expressed sincere appreciation for the donation and recognized the branch’s dedication to youth-led community service. Receiving acknowledgment from Summit’s outreach agency affirmed the meaningful impact of this initiative and reinforced the importance of sustained local engagement.
This partnership demonstrates how collaboration between youth organizations and established community agencies can create measurable, positive outcomes. Beyond providing tangible resources, the project fostered leadership, teamwork, and civic responsibility among branch members. By working with GRACE, the Aylus Morris Branch strengthened its mission to serve underrepresented and vulnerable populations while deepening its connection to the Summit community.
