On Sunday October 26th, AYLUS Great Neck branch volunteered at Stepping Stone Park to help organize the Harvest Festival and also did some marketing. Some of the volunteers arrived at 10:00 am to help decorate the event area and set up the table for the marketing. The rest of the volunteers arrived at 11:30 when the event began. The Harvest Festival event started around 11:00 for people doing Halloween parade and ended at 4:00pm. There is only one shift for the entire event and the volunteers leave around 5pm after cleaning up the area.
Volunteers were sent to different stations to help the staff to organize people’s activities. In the Pumpkin Decorating station, volunteers were organizing people to pick pumpkins, help them decorate their pumpkins and tell them to pay for the pumpkins. In the Hay Ride area, volunteers were helping people line up for the hay ride and orderly experienced the ride. For Rock Climbing, volunteers were helping people to wear equipment for the rock climb and giving them a tutorial for climbing the climbing wall. Beside helping organize the event, some volunteers were helping the organization to do some charity marketing. We also did the marketing by sell some hand made products including crocheted plushies, keychains, handmade bags, balloon animals, etc. We also let kids play with Lego and do some face painting on their face. Through that we raised funds and it will be all donated to Adventures in Learning.
