AYLUS Roslyn Helps the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County at the Bayville Care Center (22nd) on August 17th, 2025

On Sunday August 17th from 10:30 to 1:30, the AYLUS Roslyn branch volunteered at the Bayville CP location.

We started off the day with some games. Some of the volunteers went around with a dartboard while others brought around a game of Connect 4. The dartboard and darts are all spiked to stick to each other and the Connect 4 board was built in an oversized format, making the pieces and slots easier to grasp and place. All of the games were thoughtfully modified to make it more accessible so that everyone can participate. The residents were very friendly and some engaged in stimulating conversations with us about music. We all sang and clapped along to the Good Morning song, energizing the room and lifting everyone’s spirits. Later, we set up a bowling game with big pins and a ramp. We wheeled the residents up to the ramp and had them take turns pushing the bowling ball off the ramp to knock over the pins. It was truly amazing to witness the residents participating in every activity and enjoying themselves, showing joy and enthusiasm throughout.

Members who participated include:

Yang Amy Wu (1.5 hour Roslyn), Michael Zhang (2.5 hours Roslyn), Lily Zhang (2.5 hours Roslyn), Ayden Zheng (3 hours Syosset), Ashley Zheng (3 hours Syosset)
