AYLUS Syosset helps out at CCE Farmer’s Market

On July 19th, members of Syosset AYLUS came the CCE Nassau Farmers Market.  The market was open to the public at 9:00AM but volunteers arrived at Eisenhower Park Field 8 at 8:00AM to help set up the tents as well as to help other vendors set up.  There were three shifts set up with three people allowed during each shift; 8-11AM, 9AM-1PM and 11AM-2:00PM.  All sorts of vendors came with a variety of goods to sell including coffee, cookies, breads, fresh produce, glazes and more.

Throughout the event, there were three members at the front tent constantly marking down every person that arrived which resulted in a final visitor count at the end.  There was also a tent in the middle of the field for kids.  The tent had various activities for the kids who came such as doing worksheets or getting stickers and tattoos.  The table also had an activity honoring National Ice Cream Day where kids could color in their own ice cream and even choose their own toppings.  Other volunteers who did not have a designated station walked around the market helping shoppers with their bags, giving general information about the market and directing people to the Taste New York vendor in SAC house on the other side of the parking lot.
