AYLUS Roslyn Provides Food to Local Families Through NOSH Delivery! Food Pantry (55th) on February 21, 2025

On Friday, February 21st, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Roslyn Branch of AYLUS volunteered with NOSH Delivers! to support a community food drive. At their food pantry, they helped pack groceries for adults and lunches for kids, signed members in, and assisted them with picking out food, restocking shelves, breaking down boxes, and more.

Today, a team of 4 worked to help families receive their food during their walk-ins at the food pantry and prepare food that would be delivered to their houses. Volunteers packed over 100 NOSH bags filled with potatoes, onions, tomato soup, and corn. Volunteers also restocked the pantry shelves for families coming in person and signed them in at the front desk. Other tasks included breaking down boxes for increased storage, decorating and filling lunch bags for kids, ensuring each customer took the correct amount of food, and keeping the pantry clean by sweeping the floor and throwing out the garbage.

Volunteers played a crucial role in ensuring that each item was correctly labeled and not expired, enhancing the food quality. Their assistance to new customers and sign-ups for the program was invaluable. As a result of their efforts, every customer left with a smile and filled grocery bags. This positive impact on the community is a testament to the power of collective action, and we look forward to returning to assist further.
