Members of the Morris Aylus branch gathered enthusiastically to participate in Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill’s 2025 Valentines for First Responders and 9-1-1 Operators program, crafting heartfelt cards to show appreciation for the community’s emergency personnel. The initiative, designed to recognize the dedication and sacrifice of first responders, inspired the Aylus members to unleash their creativity and gratitude through handmade Valentine’s Day cards filled with kind words and artistic designs.
The event, held at Chatham library, saw students and volunteers working together, using colorful paper, stickers, and markers to create unique and meaningful messages. Some cards featured heartfelt thank-you notes, while others showcased hand-drawn illustrations of firefighters, police officers, and paramedics in action. Many participants expressed their deep appreciation for the unwavering commitment of first responders, acknowledging their courage in times of crisis. “We often take their hard work for granted,” said one Aylus member. “This is a small way to let them know we see and appreciate everything they do for our safety.”
After hours of crafting, the Aylus Morris branch members compiled the beautifully decorated cards into a collection, delivered to Chatham library in the evening of February 6th. The Morris Aylus branch took pride in being part of this meaningful project, recognizing that even a simple gesture like a Valentine’s card could brighten the day of a first responder who tirelessly serves the community. Their efforts not only fostered a spirit of gratitude but also strengthened their connection to local heroes, reinforcing the importance of community support and kindness.
