The AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Books For Development on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 9 AM to 12 PM.
Books for Development is a non-profit organization based in Houston, Texas that aims to increase literacy around the world, especially in underserved, developing, English-speaking countries. Books are often taken for granted, Books for Development ships donated books to countries with a literacy famine.

Volunteers sorted donated books into categories, which included children’s books, adult fiction, education, sports, and more. Volunteers were split into 3 groups, each with their respective tasks. The majority were responsible for sorting books into their correct categories and putting those books into labeled boxes. There were a few book donations, and a few volunteers helped carry those boxes out of cars and into the warehouse.
The following volunteers attended this event (3 hours): Alexander Tang, Zijian Wang, Victoria
Wang, Isabel Li, Owen Cheng
