On Sunday, April 7th, 2024, from 10 A.M -12.P.M. AYLUS members of Roslyn volunteered to help clean up the Flushing Meadow Corona park for Earth month. Corona Park is one of Flushing’s most iconic parks, and one of the biggest too. So big, it’s an area to help others. It’s an area where you can relax, have fun, enjoy yourself, and appreciate the world!
Earth Month takes place in April each year, and is a time where we celebrate the earth, and care for it. It’s an important reminder to respect and look after the earth, as it helps to create a healthy, safe environment.
During our hours at Corona Park, we helped pick and clean up trash, using trash bags, and trash pickers. Some items we cleaned up were bottle caps, cigarettes, wrappers, bottles, plastic, etc. By cleaning up the park , we were able to help achieve part of Earth month’s purpose. Chilly and windy weather, we were determined to finish and pick up as many pieces of trash as possible. (so cold that we needed to go quickly so we’d finish soon. :0 ) Doing this really helped our progress.
Overall, this was a really great experience and sets a great example to help the future, and help the world become a better place.
