Frisco & Plano branch sorted and packaged books for Libraries With Love on October 18th, 2023

Reported by Emily Yin

On Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, several members of the Frisco & Plano AYLUS branch sorted and packaged books for our project, Libraries With Love. This is a goal to send 3,000 books to various towns in Africa, where children lack educational resources. The majority of the books were sorted into four categories: k-2nd grade, 3-5th grade, 6-8th grade, and 9th grade and up, which would not be sent to Africa.

Most of the time was spent categorizing the books instead of packaging them. However, we did manage to get a good amount of books into the standard boxes, a process in which we put a plastic bag to keep the books safe from water, neatly placed the books inside, counted them, weighed the box, wrote the information on the outside (weight, grade level, etc.), and finally logged the box in a file. While most of us did the work together, Lillian sorted and packaged by herself. We would like to recognize her efforts.

In addition to thanking our volunteers, we also thank the advisors, whose help and dedication have made such projects possible.
