On August 7th, 2026, the Houston Branch hosted a book drive, in order to provide kids in lower family income a chance to own their own book. The branch collected new and lightly used books, in order to promote reading skills and increased literacy, and aid Books between Kid’s mission in allowing children in the Greater Houston area to receive a book of their own.
Volunteers first started by collecting books at Seven Lakes High School, where people drove in order to drop off their books, with the volunteers there dedicating their time to make sure things went as smoothly as possible. After all the books were received, volunteers drove the books over to the warehouse, where they would be sorted and then distributed accordingly.
The Houston Branch is grateful for this opportunity to serve the community of Houston, and is dedicated in giving back to the community, whether it be time or books in this case. We thank Books Between Kids for the opportunity to give books to those in need, and look forward to the next event.
