Over the weekend of August 15–16, 2026, Pearland Youth Volunteers participated in a community mural project at Light and Salt Association (LSA) to transform a plain sports room into a colorful, welcoming, and inspiring space for children and families.
Before beginning the mural, the volunteers thoroughly cleaned and prepared the walls to ensure a smooth and clean surface for painting. They then worked together on different stages of the project, including applying the base paint, sketching the outlines of the designs, and carefully painting sports-themed artwork. The students painted basketballs, tennis balls, and other tennis-themed elements to create a fun and energetic athletic atmosphere.
The volunteers demonstrated teamwork, creativity, patience, and attention to detail throughout the two-day project. They helped one another prepare the walls, sketch, paint, and touch up the artwork. After completing the mural, the volunteers also cleaned the entire room, organized the supplies, and ensured the space was neat and ready for use.
The transformation was remarkable. What had previously been a plain white wall became a beautiful, colorful sports-themed mural that brought energy and character to the room. The volunteers were proud to see how their hard work and creativity made a meaningful difference to the community space.
