AYLUS Morris Branch partnered with GRACE (Giving and Receiving Assistance for Our Community’s Essentials) to organize a community service project focused on collecting female hygiene products for women and families experiencing financial hardship. Access to basic hygiene products is essential for health, dignity, and well-being, yet many individuals struggle to afford these necessities. Recognizing this important need, AYLUS members launched a neighborhood donation drive and encouraged local residents to contribute unopened packages of sanitary pads, tampons, panty liners, and other essential feminine care products. Community members responded with generosity, demonstrating their willingness to support neighbors in need and help make a positive difference.
Throughout the project, AYLUS volunteers dedicated their time to promoting the donation drive, coordinating collection efforts, and organizing the donated items. Members carefully sorted and packed the products to ensure they were ready for distribution, while learning about the challenges many women face in accessing everyday necessities. Working together throughout the process also strengthened teamwork, leadership, and communication skills among the volunteers while reinforcing the value of serving others with compassion and respect.
On the morning of August 20 at 10:00 a.m., AYLUS Morris Branch members delivered the collected female hygiene products to GRACE, where the donations will be distributed to local women and families through the organization’s community assistance programs. The partnership with GRACE allowed the donations to reach individuals who can benefit from them most, helping reduce the burden of purchasing essential hygiene products. Through this service project, AYLUS members not only provided meaningful support to the local community but also raised awareness about period poverty and the importance of ensuring that everyone has access to basic personal care items. AYLUS Morris Branch is grateful to the generous neighbors who donated, as well as to GRACE for its continued partnership. Together, the community demonstrated that small acts of kindness and collective effort can make a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of others.
