On 8/15/2026, Aylus volunteers volunteer at the Energy and Nature Center in Jones Beach from 9:30am to 12:00am (2.5 hours).
As usual, today our job is to pull out mugworts that keep coming back after we pull them out a few volunteer activities ago. The park staff in the center decided to make an experiment to see which method is most effective for entirely removing mugwort: they had an empty area as the control group and the area beside it, which was solarized, as the experiment group. The results can be found after a couple of months.
Two volunteers were digging out goldenrods in a playground for transplant. They used shovels and collected them into buckets. Finally, the goldenrods were transplanted into the garden of the center.
