On Tuesday, August 11th, the Great Neck AYLUS Branch hosted another productive session at the Great Neck Station Library. Junlin Yu worked with a younger student to learn English words through picture books, and he worked with Summer Lu to teach students how to compete in the entertaining but engaging board game of Scrabble. Summer Lu also helped a 3rd-grade student with her preparation for the state tests, going through in-depth addition and subtraction of fractions problems. Olivia Kang, Brian Zhang, Brendan Chen, and a fellow tutee were also participating in the game of Scrabble at another table. As none of them were completely familiar with the game, they all worked together to figure it out. In the end, they were able to play a successful round of Scrabble. Overall, the tutoring session was productive and entertaining, as both the students and the tutors learned a new practical skill for life. The next session will be on Thursday, August 13th.
