Event 149: Community Clothing Drive to Support ECLC Madison in August 2026

On the afternoon of August 6, the AYLUS Morris Branch partnered with ECLC (Education, Careers, and Lifelong Community) to organize a community clothing donation project benefiting the ECLC Madison site. The goal of the project was to provide quality clothing to individuals served by ECLC while encouraging community members to participate in a meaningful act of giving. Prior to the donation day, branch members promoted the clothing drive throughout the community, inviting families to donate gently used clothing in good condition. Through these outreach efforts, members collected more than 100 pieces of clothing, demonstrating the generosity and support of the local community.

After the donations were received, members carefully inspected each clothing item to ensure it was clean, wearable, and suitable for distribution. They worked together to sort the clothing by type and size, neatly fold each item, and organize everything into seven large donation bags. This process required teamwork, attention to detail, and effective communication to ensure the donations were well prepared and easy for ECLC staff to distribute. Members also learned the importance of maintaining the quality and organization of donated items so recipients could receive them with dignity and respect.

At 1:00 p.m. on August 6, members delivered the seven bags of clothing to the ECLC Madison site. During the visit, they met with staff members, who expressed appreciation for the donation and explained how the clothing would benefit the individuals they serve. The project not only provided practical support to the ECLC community but also strengthened the partnership between AYLUS Morris Branch and ECLC. By working together from collection through delivery, members gained valuable experience in organizing a community service initiative, collaborating as a team, and making a positive impact on the lives of others. This project reinforced the importance of compassion, service, and community engagement while inspiring members to continue supporting local organizations in meaningful ways.
