On July 25th, members of the Syosset AYLUS organization volunteered with LINPI (Long Island Native Plant Initiative) to advance conservation efforts across Long Island. Volunteers systematically tagged plants to ensure accurate identification and tracking throughout the nursery operations. Additionally, team members applied identification stickers to pots, establishing a clear labeling system that will facilitate plant management and future outreach. The group cultivated nutrient-rich soil for upcoming plantings, demonstrating commitment to providing optimal growing conditions for native species. Additionally, volunteers carefully up-potted established plants into larger containers to accommodate continued growth and root development. To complete the day’s initiatives, members transported newly acquired plants into the nursery, expanding the available stock for restoration and education programs. Through coordinated effort and attention to detail, the volunteers strengthened LINPI’s operational capacity while contributing meaningfully to the preservation of the Native Plants on Long Island.
