On the afternoon of June 30, two lead members of the AYLUS Art Group successfully hosted two consecutive drawing classes at the Hua Xia Chinese School Pearland Summer Camp. Bringing a wave of creativity to the camp, the volunteers introduced a crowd-favorite theme: Pokémon.
Understanding the students’ varying skill levels and interests, the volunteers customized the curriculum for the two different classrooms. One class focused on the iconic Pikachu, while the other learned to draw the adorable water-type Pokémon, Poliwag.
Teaching a combined total of 32 students ranging in age from 4 to 11 years old presented a significant classroom management challenge. By implementing effective engagement strategies and providing clear, step-by-step demonstrations, the volunteers kept the diverse group focused and on-task. Under their guidance, the students in both classes completed their artwork with outstanding results.
This successful initiative not only nurtured young artistic talents but also further expanded AYLUS’s positive impact and visibility within the local community.
