On June 30, 2026, volunteers from the AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch came together to make developmental hearts for newborns at WakeMed, along with heart-shaped pillows and origami gifts for patients.
During the event, volunteers spent several hours cutting, sewing, assembling, and folding the materials needed for each project. Every item was made with care, with the hope of bringing comfort and encouragement to patients and their families.
These handmade gifts are a small way to show support for people going through difficult times. We hope the developmental hearts, heart pillows, and origami pieces will provide comfort and remind patients that members of the community are thinking of them.
The volunteers who participated in this event were Alwin Liu (6 hours), Andrew Zhao (6 hours), Daniel Liu (6 hours), and Leah Yang (6 hours).
