On May 24, 2026, AYLUS volunteers partnered with 92130 Cares for the 2nd time to support the Sunday Free Farmers Market, distributing donated food to low-income families in the community.
The collaboration grew out of our earlier Egg Carton Drive, and this event marked a meaningful next step. 92130cares volunteers collected food donations from local groceries,
The food included eggs, bread, peaches, strawberries, plums, radishes, tomatoes, and a variety of other vegetables. While there was an abundance of strawberries, many were spoiled, requiring volunteers to spend much time carefully sorting and discarding the bad ones before organizing the fresh food for distribution.
AYLUS volunteers played a key role in unloading items from vehicles, inspecting donations, discarding spoiled food, and sorting the rest. Fresh and usable food was carefully organized on tables by category, creating an accessible and welcoming setup for distribution.
Finally, the food was distributed to low-income families in the neighborhood, ensuring that the donations directly reached those in need.
Everyone worked so hard today. We also celebrated the birthday of an amazing gentleman by wishing him a happy birthday and singing a birthday song. He is 89 years old and has been a dedicated volunteer at 92130 Cares for many years.
This event deepened our partnership with 92130 Cares and gave our volunteers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to food security in our community.
