On May 25th, 2026, AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch held its 228th event from 1:45 PM to 3:45 PM at the Forest View Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. During the event, members performed a variety of songs for the residents at Forest View.
To begin the concert, our Luminous Ensemble is made up of a talented musical family. This talented musical family includes our parent advisor Karen Liao on flute, project committee member Ioklee Lin on cello, and our member Ioknor Lin on viola. They opened the concert with two songs, Marcia Marsala e Mozzarella and Always With Me. Next was Selena You, our youngest member, playing 3 songs on the piano, Forest Song, On Wings of Song, and Turkish March. Following Selena was one of our vice presidents, Vicki Lin playing From the Start by Laufey on trumpet. After her, we have two members Ruien Ryan Song & Paxton Xu having an accordion duet, playing My Bonnie and America the Beautiful. Going back to the piano, one of our first time performers Amy Liu played Für Elise. Then Ricky Song played My Way on the guitar, Iokting played Minuet in G Major, BWV 822 on the piano, and Tracy Zhang played An Evening in the Village on the flute. Going back to the piano, Stephanie You played 2 songs, Theme from Liebesträume No. 3 and Furiant. Then, inviting Ricky back on stage, he played Sonata on the violin which was followed by Yilin Peng playing By the Ocean on the piano. Following this, Stephanie went back on stage to play Spring Song on the flute. Afterwards, Martin Qu played Summer on the piano, Paxton Xu played Andante on the flute, Ashlee Chen played Prelude and Fugue in B-flat by Johann Sebastian Bach on the piano, Sophia You playing Andalouse, Op. 20 on the flute, and Jason Liu playing Alborada del Gracioso on the piano. To end the concert, our Luminous Ensemble played 3 songs for memorial day, Tramp! Tramp! Tramp!, Chester, and The Stars and Stripes Forever.
Throughout the concert, it was touching to see the seniors enjoying the songs, clapping along, and humming to the tune of the music. Our members really put a lot of time into practicing, and it was great to see that all their effort paid off. We also really appreciate all of the residents for listening today.
