Aylus Newtown and UnitedWay Event (5th)

On Saturday, April 25th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Newtown Branch helped United Way paint their new Help Center/Headquarters.

We were assigned to areas to paint and specific jobs to do. Some of us painted whole walls with rollers while others used brushes to get into small crevices and minute details. The task taught us to work together, how to maximize efficiency, & the importance of quality in our work. Before painting, we were given a tour of the building and the future purposes of rooms, and the general purpose of the facility. There, we learned how important our volunteer work really was, as they told us that their team was made up of a small group of around 15 people, so almost all the work done on the building was from charity work. United Way helps impoverished people across the whole county, and after hearing that, we truly understand the impact of our volunteer work.
