Today, at Fellowship Village, many seniors had questions on things like how to share screens and set backgrounds on zoom, edit home screen, download and upload documents and the use of Google Drive. One resident asked questions regarding clearing apps for storage and possible reasons for his phone slowing down. The volunteer gave a general overview of how it worked and they went through some apps to delete. Another resident asked about how iMessage worked, the volunteer gave directions on how to use it and let her practice with it a few times. The volunteer also covered questions regarding sharing photos or other files and how to attach them to messages or emails. Another resident wanted to know how to take videos and photos, which the volunteer showed and let them practice with.
Together, these experiences that both the volunteers and seniors shared today helped to show the deep commitment to community that AYLUS has. It shows not only basic technology skills, but rather community building and allowing seniors to feel a connection to the modern world which may be hard to keep up with.
