Newtown AYLUS Members Help Churchville Nature Center Wildflower Sale

On Sunday April 26, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 AM, Newtown AYLUS Branch members helped the Churchville Nature Center with their wildflower sale by assisting the staff and buyers looking for flowers. Wherever extra help was needed, AYLUS members assisted as needed.

Multiple jobs were carried out during the session such as guidance for buyers, counting flowers, and helping people load the flowers onto their cars. The Churchville Nature Center Wildflower Sale is an annual event which the Churchville Nature Center holds to help promote native flower species and contribute to local wildlife. If buyers had any questions or were looking for recommendations, volunteers greeted them and helped guide them to the right person to answer their questions. After they had paid for their selections of flowers, volunteers offered them assistance to put them on their cars. And any loose carts or other things that were left alone were brought back by volunteers and prepared for the next group of people.

This experience helped the volunteers build a sense of community with local people looking to buy some native flowers suitable for their gardens. By helping out the people who came to buy and the staff at the Churchville Nature Center, volunteers better understood how to interact and help out in their community. Everyone who participated in the sale left satisfied and the volunteers gained community skills and teamwork skills.

Members who contributed were Kylee Guo (event leader) and Chris Louie. Each member contributed 4 hours.
