On April 4th, members of AYLUS visited the Blake nursing home to spend time with the residents and engage them in interactive activities.
During this visit, we organized a simple throwing game, where residents aimed at a dartboard. This game was designed to give residents a chance for physical activity. Many elderly residents spend long periods in wheelchairs, which can lead to reduced muscle strength and limited mobility. Through this game, we helped them stretch and exercise their arm and hand muscles.
In the beginning, we allowed residents to stand or sit closer to the target to make participation easier. As they became more comfortable, we increased the distance to encourage further movement and strengthen their upper body.
The activity was a hit with many residents actively participating. Even those with limited mobility who were unable to join the game directly still showed great interest and happiness while watching others play.
Overall, the event was a joyful and meaningful experience. The residents had a great time, and our members were glad to bring both entertainment and light physical exercise into their day.
