Event 119: Nourishing the Community: Aylus Morris Branch Food Drive with Helping Hands in April 2026

The Aylus Morris Branch partnered with the Helping Hands nonprofit organization to lead a meaningful food drive aimed at supporting local families in need. With a shared commitment to community service, members organized the initiative to collect canned food items that could be distributed through the Helping Hands Family Center. The drive focused on gathering non-perishable goods that are essential for households facing food insecurity, ensuring that donations would have a direct and practical impact.

To encourage participation, members promoted the food drive within their community and coordinated collection efforts to make donating simple and accessible. Through their outreach and teamwork, they successfully collected a total of 25 pounds of canned food. Each contribution, no matter the size, reflected the generosity of the community and the dedication of the members leading the effort. The project not only addressed an immediate need but also raised awareness about food insecurity and the importance of giving back.

On April 1 at 3:00 PM, members delivered the collected food to the Helping Hands Family Center, marking an important milestone in the project. Beyond simply dropping off donations, they took an active role in supporting the organization by helping to organize the food shelf. This hands-on effort ensured that items were properly sorted and made easily accessible for families who rely on the center’s resources.

This initiative highlighted the power of collaboration, leadership, and service. Members of the Aylus Morris Branch demonstrated strong organizational skills and a genuine commitment to making a difference. By partnering with Helping Hands and actively engaging in both collection and distribution, they were able to contribute in a meaningful way. The experience reinforced the value of community involvement and showed how even modest efforts can create a positive and lasting impact.
