Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank (45th) (4/3/2024)

Reported by Jessica Lu :

On April 3rd, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped their local food bank.
Members first signed in before starting to sort the meats. Members were given several boxes of random meats and they had to sort them into their own respective boxes. They had a beef box, a chicken/turkey box, and a miscellaneous box for fake meat like sausages and pepperoni. With the empty boxes, members brought them out to the recycling bin and broke them down. The newly sorted boxes of meat were then transferred into the freezer. When they were done sorting, members went outside to help give away food. For each car with a family less than 4, they got a food box, a snack bag, and some extra items like milk or cake. For a car with a family of 5 or more, they got 2 food boxes and 2 food bags with the extra items. Each member had assigned jobs such as bringing the flowers to each car, getting the cakes from the fridge, and bringing in new food carts. Members worked outside until it was time to clean up. They received expressions of gratitude from the staff members who hoped they would come again soon.
