The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered at Valley Stream State Park to help remove bamboo. Volunteers used clippers and saws to cut down bamboo stalks before transporting them across the river in a makeshift assembly line for efficiency. The bamboo was then cut into smaller pieces and thrown in a truck to be taken away later. Two bridges across the river were constructed to allow for better accessibility and to speed up the process. Volunteers worked from 9:30 to 12:00 to help get rid of excess bamboo.
Volunteers: Bryan Fan (3 hrs) and Jonathan Fan (2.5 hrs).
