AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at Ed White Elementary School as tutors.
At Ed White Elementary School, our tutoring efforts focused on assisting 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students with math and reading. We provided guidance through assigned worksheets and activities, addressing questions and requests for help. Despite challenges like assisting bilingual students and teaching unfamiliar concepts, our support eased the load on teachers and empowered students to deepen their understanding. By fostering a culture of inquiry and learning, we not only aided
students but also honed our own teaching and communication skills as volunteers.
