Upper Manhattan Branch Hosts Environmental Stewardship at Oakland Lake on March 16, 2024

On the sunny morning of March 16, 2024, the Upper Manhattan Branch organized an environmental stewardship event at Oakland Lake. The event aimed to clean up the hiking trail, which had become littered with single-use water bottles, soft drink cans, and other food trash discarded by partygoers.

Richard Xu and Mark Li, two dedicated volunteers, were among the participants in this worthwhile initiative. Equipped with gloves and trash bags, they set out to clean up the litter strewn across the ground. Their diligent efforts not only contributed to the environmental well-being of Oakland Lake but also ensured that future visitors could enjoy a cleaner, more scenic hiking experience.

Oakland Lake, a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, is known for its serene setting and scenic hiking trails. However, the recent influx of partygoers had taken away from its natural beauty, leaving behind a mess that needed to be addressed. Through this environmental stewardship event, the Upper Manhattan Branch sent a strong message about the importance of protecting and preserving our natural resources.
